Twin DNA Testing

Twin testing, also known as Zygosity testing, will establish if twins are identical or not. The test is available as an appointment at one of our DNA Clinics. Or you can order a Twin DNA test kit by calling 0800988 7107. Also, the twin DNA test is only available as a ‘peace of mind’ or test.

How does a Twin DNA Test work?

Twins can either be identical or fraternal twins. The Twin DNA test can prove whether you, or your children, are identical or fraternal twins. The DNA of identical twins is exactly same. As a result, they will have identical DNA profiles.

The DNA profiles of fraternal twins can be as different as the profiles of any two siblings that are not twins. In other words, they only share half of their genes in common like other siblings.

By comparing the DNA profiles of each twin, we can determine if twins are identical or fraternal.

How long does it take for the Twin DNA test results?

The average analysis time in the lab is around three to four working days. But this does not include the quality checks needed for sample integrity or your consent paperwork. So, from receipt of your samples at Crystal Health Group, it takes on average of about three to five working days. If there are any unforeseen delays, for example, such as the paperwork we receive not being quite right, we will contact you as soon as possible to let you know.
